Wine Cellar Innovations founder Jim Deckebach’s love of fine wines and foods began in 1974 when he studied in France. He returned to the US to manage a restaurant in Cincinnati and remodel homes on the side. He started Deckebach Construction & Remodeling Business in 1977 out of his garage and built his first wine cellar as part of a remodeling job in 1984. Within one year he specialized in custom wine cellars. In 1998 Deckebach moved his business from his garage to the current 355,000 sq. ft. facility in Cincinnati. Once at the new location, Deckebach began a refrigeration department with test chambers to develop the best storage methods for aging wine. Builders, remodelers and architects began looking to Deckebach to fulfill the highly specialized needs of building and designing wine cellars. Today, Wine Cellar Innovations has over 150 employees. They design, craft and install the world’s leading wine cellars for discerning clients all over the world.
Erica reached out to us to see if we could take over maintenance and support of their ecommerce web application and custom order processing solutions. Evidently their previous developer was about to “retire” and they had to find someone fast. We were able to start work on their application within a week, adding missing functionality, fixing bugs, improving performance and moving the application to Azure.
Although we only work about 10 hours per week for WCI at the moment, we are still able to make steady progress enhancing their core applications, built around ASP.NET, SQL Server, Azure and Authorize.NET.
